China has approved 22 billion rupees grant for Gwadar AirPort and a Chinese delegation will visit Pakistan next month in this regard. This was stated by Secretary Aviation in the meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat, chaired by the chairman, Senator Talha Mehmood.
Secretary Aviation said that a Chinese delegation would visit Pakistan in October this year and China has already approved $220 million grant.Senator Yousuf Badiani at the occasion said that corruption of an ineligible tendering party resulted in the increase of cost and delay in construction.
The Chairman Talha Mehmood, during the meeting, said that the ministry would suggest whether the committee would call on Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan or would visit China, for which the members endorsed. He pointed out that there was only one PIA flight for Dushanbe; however, Senator Yousaf Badini suggested for increasing the number of flights for Gwadar.
Senator Yousuf Badini and Kamil Agha on the grounded PIA airplane in overseas, that the issue must be promptly resolved; it was learned that PIA administration would negotiate to solve the matter amicably. However, the members said that the cost of a visit to the country would be more than the value of the hollow airplane.
The Chairman Committee asked for time resolving the matter; and was decided that the problem would be sorted out in 45 days. Senator Kamil Ali Agha suggested that the responsible elements must be pointed out, on which the responsible official was summoned to the next meeting.
Among other officials, state minister Danyal Aziz, Secretary Aviation, Administrator Islamabad Club; including Senators: Kamil Ali Agha, Yousaf Badini, Shahi Sayed, Saifullah Khan Bangash, Najma Hameed, Kulsoom Parveen, Azam Khan Hoti attended the meeting.
